JIM O'BRIEN SIGNING HIS NEW BOOK, "ALWAYS A STEELER"

2003 Index

Blimey, I am starting to look old. Must be the Steelers doing this to me!

Jim O'Brien, the author of many books about sport in Pittsburgh, had the misfortune of meeting me again. He was talking to some lads who had come up from Florida when we arrived, so he said to them, "You think you've come a long way - these guys are from England."

I was impressed when Jim remembered my surname as he autographed his book. Well, it's been a few years since we last met. I remember going to see him at a book signing in Station Square before a game. It was snowing and freezing outside and I got there early. With my thermals on, I had to suffer the high temperature inside the Square while I waited for him to arrive.

Jim's new book, "Always a Steeler," with Terry Bradshaw on the cover and Tommy Maddox on the back, has some great stories and photos about the Steelers. I haven't worked my way through it yet, but I will.
